» Frame erection system:- This is an old practice adopted for wooden ship in many years ago and adopted for iron, steel ship of riveted construction in the 19th century. The process of frame erection system is as follows:-

5. Assembly of inner bottom plating.

»Block assembly system: - The block assembly system is adopted by almost all shipyard today. Hull construction is divided many parts depending on the crane capacity of the shipyard and each block is fabricated independently. The blocks are position in the building berth and welded. The process of block assembly system is as follows:-

4.1)Define mold loft.

ANS: The mold loft is that place in a shipyard where the first steps in the construction of a new ship take place. It is a large covered wooden or brick floor area suitable for laying off ship details at full size or scale.

4.2) Mention the principal tools and equipments for mold lofting.

ANS: The principal tools and equipments for mold lofting are given below:-

ANS: The purpose of mold lofting are as follows:-

1. In mold loft operation the lines plan working drawing information is converted at full size or scale drawn on the mold loft floor.

2. The full scale lines fairing or smoothness of the ships lines checked.

3. Identify the ships shape for mold lofting.

4. Mold loft give the exact lines of the ship or every name for making template.

5. Mold loft give the manufacturing information for the various construction.

5.1)Define template.

ANS: The templates or patterns which are made in the mold loft after being lofted from the ships lines are made either of wood or heavy waxed paper.

5.2) Mention the principal tools and equipment for tem -plating.

ANS: The principal tools and equipment for tem-plating are as follows:-

The template must be inscribed with all information necessary to finish the jobs, such as- buttock frame, water lines, ship section, sheet number of section, number of plates and thickness .
